E-Mortal Customs
A custom website for a business that had outgrown its old one.
E-Mortal Customs needed a modern web presence that better represented the shop and made its services easier to understand.
We replaced an outdated Wix site with a custom-built website designed around the business, its content, and a stronger technical foundation.

01 / Starting point
The old website wasn't doing the business any favors.
The previous Wix site had become dated and no longer represented the business particularly well.
The problem wasn't that the business needed a more complicated website. It needed a better one: clearer, more current, easier to maintain, and built on a stronger foundation.
Sometimes the right custom solution is still just a website—built properly.
02 / The requirement
Make the business easier to understand.
A local service-business website has to answer practical questions quickly. Visitors should be able to understand the shop, find what they need, and know how to get in touch.

What does the shop actually do?

Search
Can people and search engines understand the site?

03 / Content structure
Organize the site around what customers are looking for.
The website structure should reflect the business rather than simply reproducing the structure of the old site.
That means a clear service hierarchy, understandable navigation, useful headings, direct contact paths, and content that visitors and search engines can both make sense of.

04 / Custom build
No platform baggage we didn't need.
The replacement site was built specifically for the requirements of this website rather than recreating the old site inside another generic template.
This project did not need a large application, ecommerce system, or complex CMS. It needed a focused website we could control at the markup, layout, performance, accessibility, and technical SEO levels.
Custom doesn't have to mean complicated.

05 / Responsive
The website has to work where customers actually use it.
Local business websites are frequently encountered on phones while people are looking for services, contact information, directions, or information about the business.
The site needed to remain readable and usable at those widths—not simply shrink a desktop layout onto a smaller screen.
06 / Search foundation
SEO starts with a site search engines can understand.
Some SEO work was included in the project, but this was not primarily an SEO campaign. The search work here was foundational: build the website so people and search engines can understand the business.
That meant treating page structure, headings, metadata, crawlable content, and a clean technical foundation as part of the website build rather than a separate later exercise.
The SEO work here was foundational: build the website properly first.
07 / Web quality
A focused website should be a fast website.
A focused business website should not require unnecessary JavaScript, heavy dependencies, or excessive frontend machinery.
Keeping the build lean supports performance, accessibility, responsive behavior, and long-term maintainability—especially when the project does not need the complexity of a larger application.
08 / Replacement
Same business. Better foundation.
The business itself didn't need reinventing. The website needed to represent it better.

09 / The takeaway
Custom means building what the business actually needs.
E-Mortal Customs is a useful example of what custom development can mean for a straightforward business website: a focused, maintainable site that represents the shop properly and provides a stronger foundation for the web and search—without turning the project into a larger software system.
Build what the business needs. Nothing it doesn't.
